Insight from WEM Founder
The biblical narrative of Elijah versus the prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18:20-40) may seem farfetched and unrealistic to the modern world in which we live.
The testimony contained in this newsletter, however, attests to the fact that God responds to the fervent prayers of His beloved.
Ranjen, a young pastor from a village in North India shares how his faith was challenged to ask his God to change the adverse weather affecting a gathering at his home, and how God proved Himself in the most wonderful way. I trust that you will be blessed by Ranjen’s story.
A testimony from one of our co-workers in Bihar, North India.
I write to you today with a heart full of gratitude and a deepened sense of faith, reflecting on an extraordinary experience I recently encountered.
As many of you know, the loss of my father was a deeply sombre moment for our family. In accordance with local customs, we were required to feed the entire village as a gesture of closure.
Given that over 300 people gathered from both near and far, the task was immense and daunting. With no financial resources of my own and inadequate space in our small home, the situation seemed insurmountable.
Miraculously, our close friends came together to raise the necessary funds, but our house could only accommodate a fraction of the guests. The rest had to make do with sleeping outside in the yard. The night was uncomfortably hot, and mosquitoes added
to the discomfort. To our dismay, a storm broke out around 11 PM, bringing heavy rain and further distress to the already struggling crowd.
At this critical moment, a few non-Christian villagers voiced their frustration and demanded that I, as a young and relatively inexperienced pastor, call upon the God I preach about to stop the rain. The weight of their expectations and the dire situation left me uncertain and fearful. Yet, I knew I had to trust in the God I had always believed in.
With a heart full of desperation and faith, I prayed earnestly in the darkness. Astonishingly, within just ten minutes, the rain ceased completely. The oppressive heat and mosquitoes were replaced by a cool, pleasant breeze, and the villagers, who had been grumbling, were left in awe.
This unexpected turn of events brought peace to the night, allowing everyone to rest comfortably. The following morning, 12 individuals, moved by what they had witnessed, came forward and expressed their desire to know more about the faith I hold dear. They were eager for immediate baptism, touched by the tangible demonstration of God’s power and love.
This experience has reinforced my belief in the power of prayer and the presence of God in even the most challenging circumstances.
It has also shown me that faith can profoundly impact those who witness it in action.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers. I ask that you join me in giving thanks for this miraculous intervention and pray
for the new believers who have joined our spiritual family.
With humble gratitude and renewed faith – Ranjan

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
